Summary:
This is about a small family in Lithuania who get taken from their home. In this story you will read about momma, pappa, littler brother Jonas, and big sister Lina. The year is 1941 during World War II. This is when Stalin started anti-Soviet genocide. People were taken from their homes and sent to the Artic Circle or forced to work labor camps . No one knew what was really going on guring this time. They all started to think that the Soviet Union where bad and the Germans were good so they hoped and pray that the Germans will save them. In reality the Germans will kill them as well. The story takes place over a year, riding cart train being treated like animals. As you read on you will see how much the characters really impact each other. Lina, her brother, and her mother try to find papa to see if he is alive. They only see him once while they stop and Line goes to look for him. Through out the story Lina meets a new friend but at the time she just liked him as a friend. Later out she starts to notice that she likes him more than a friend but this story is not about their love. Lina also has secret that if anyone found out she would be killed.
